The honest answers
What counts as a token?
A token is the chunk of text the AI processes. Roughly 4 characters or 0.75 words. A typical clinical note generation uses about 5,000 tokens (transcript in, note out). 1 million tokens per month = around 200 clinical notes, or fewer if you generate long documents like 20 page tables.
What happens if I go over my token limit?
For Solo and Practice, overage is billed at our underlying AWS cost plus 40%. You set a hard cap if you want. You will never get a surprise invoice without warnings at 50%, 80%, and 100% of your included tokens.
Is the BAA negotiable?
On Solo and Practice, no — its a standard click through agreement so we can sign quickly and at scale. On Enterprise, yes — we negotiate custom indemnification, breach SLAs, and data residency commitments. The base protections are identical on every tier.
Why is your scribe more expensive than Freed?
Freed sends your patient data to OpenAI. We tokenize it first so PHI never leaves your control. Thats more compute on our side, more security, and the only BAA included scribe at this price point. Different product, different math.
